Investments and divestments

In recent years, Nokian Tyres has implemented a major investment phase to rebuild its production capacity to meet the demand for high-quality and sustainable tires.

During 2023-2025, Nokian Tyres invested approximately EUR 800 million in expanding its production capacity. With the investment phase now completed, the company’s focus shifts to ramping up and efficiently utilising capacity, improving operational efficiency, and executing its profitable growth strategy. At the same time, capital expenditure is returning to normalized levels.

The most significant individual investment, amounting to approximately EUR 650 million, is the new passenger car tire factory in Romania. The factory supports the geographical diversification of production and addresses growing demand for high‑quality and sustainably produced tires. It is the world’s first full‑scale CO₂‑emission‑free tire factory, and can be expanded in the future in line with market demand. A distribution facility located at the same site supports efficient warehousing and distribution of tires.

To support the establishment of the factory, the European Commission approved in 2024 up to EUR 99.5 million Romanian state aid measure. The first installment worth EUR 32.6 millionis was paid at the end of 2025.
