Technical Customer Service Manager Philipp Menges has worked at Nokian Tyres for almost a decade. He’s responsible for the technical customer service in the DACH region, mainly serving Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and the contact person for all technical matters. Where does he get his drive?

“When there are any issues, Technical Customer Service comes into play. Most of the time I'm working closely with end users and customers. We’re a small team and our focus is to serve customers in the best way possible, reacting and providing support quickly. We are known for having a low threshold for supporting customers: they call us when something is not working properly, and we make what's supposed to happen possible.

“When working in the field, safety is a priority. We meet new customers and visit new places every day, so we adapt and focus on making work as safe as possible. Everybody wants to go home safely, no matter where they work.”

Innovating for safety and responsibility

“Innovation is important to us. 90 years ago, we invented the first winter tire, and later we also brought out the first winter tire for tractors in the Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta TRI. I think that’s unique to us: we have a constant drive to improve things, bring out new innovations, move ahead, and adapt to the market.

“Choosing the right products for the right machine and the right conditions is responsible and safe. We help customers use the full potential of their machinery, optimize the tires for their work, reduce their operating costs, be more competitive, and work with less impact on their surroundings. That’s where the sustainability angle comes into play: when machines are running properly, it also benefits the environment.”

Learning drives continuous improvement

“Seeing different conditions and how customers and dealers operate teaches you a lot. You're learning new things every time you go to a new customer, and that helps to improve tires as you project your learnings to the product itself.

“We’re constantly thinking how to make tires that will handle the conditions in the field even better than before. And it all comes back to innovation and continuously improving things – core parts of our purpose.”
