Mina Sveløkken works as HR Manager in Norway for both Vianor and Nokian Tyres. What does she find most important in her daily work?
“My job is highly operational, but I also focus on strategy. Luckily, I get to work closely with my HR colleagues in Sweden and Finland, as well as global HR and local management teams. I enjoy being in contact with people, both remotely and in person. That’s really my main focus: bringing service to the organization by giving support.
“Having our daily work exemplify things such as collaboration, innovation, and safety is the most important thing – they are parts of our shared purpose. To create real engagement, we need to keep bringing up these common attributes.”
Making a positive impact
“Safety starts with us: we need to take ownership of our safety, and we need to care for each other. In the big picture, it’s for the sake of our children and everyone else within – and outside – our immediate circle. The important question is always: What can I do to make a positive impact?
“Safety is a choice we need to make both on the employee and employer side. Especially in a season-based business like Vianor, an occasionally more stressful environment can expose us to accidents easier than ordinarily. Therefore, we focus on having the right equipment, the correct training, and enough staff available. We think about and choose safety, for ourselves and for each other.”

Strength in sharing
“We have improved the training of seasonal staff for example by starting with an onboarding day for going through the job, who to talk to for support, and everything else that’s important. There’s always more work to do, of course, and that’s why we keep improving.
“We have a great strength and opportunity in the ways we share knowledge and best practices. We cooperate through departments and countries and learn from each other, and we will continue to develop this further. We’re always looking to make it easier to be our customer by selling high-quality products and services, and having engaged and knowledgeable employees to provide support at every turn.”
