Matti Morri: "This is how trust in a premium brand is created"

Technical Customer Service Manager Matti Morri has worked at Nokian Tyres for thirty-five years. Now he explains how we have succeeded in building Nokian Tyres into a respected brand that both customers and consumers can trust.
Matti Morri joined Nokian Tyres in 1989, and immediately got to start training in production to learn how tires are made. That practical experience from the production line gave him an insight to talk about our products and share his knowledge.
"I can tell you how things actually work, and when it comes to tire problems in the field, it helps that I know what I'm talking about. The confidence of our customers and consumers increases when the salesperson has done their research and knows more about the products than just the price. It is also a big advantage for our own salespeople that they can go to the factory floor to see how the products are made.”
According to Matti, solid professionalism, fairness, and loyalty are the cornerstones of trust. Long careers have helped Nokian Tyres to develop a culture where the team is committed, and customers and colleagues are faced openly and respectfully as people.
Trust cannot grow in a workplace where everything depends on one person, or one’s efforts are focused too narrowly. According to Matti, Nokian Tyres’ conversational culture has improved over the years, and information flows smoothly both internally and externally. He repeatedly emphasizes the competence of his colleagues: with them you can trust that things will get done as agreed. Matti states that trust in people, both at work and outside, reduces stress levels tremendously.
Fairness is also reflected in how customers and consumers are treated: always equally. “If the tire has the same problem, of course we will give the same support for everyone.”
Matti works in the quality organization: Nokian Tyres has a proud history of high quality. Our products are designed to operate according to the conditions of their respective categories and market areas. The recipe for future success is tried-and-tested.
During his career, Matti has seen generations whose trust we have built through the high quality and safety of our products. When consumers are taken care of in any problem situations Matti is working on, it builds trust in the company and the products.
Aftercare is not a given for all tire manufacturers, but we have made it easy. If the customer wants to reach us by phone, the right person will answer. "We take care of our products and customers until the end, and a bit further."
Matti has also handled complaints globally for a long time. He says that when you have a relationship of trust with customers, help with potential problems is easy to get, and that goes both ways.
What if trust is lost? Can it be regained? Matti knocks on wood and says that Nokian Tyres has not had to make a single recall in 35 years.
