Nokian Tyres plc Press Release June 25, 2025, at 9:05 a.m. EEST

Nokian Tyres has been recognized by TIME as one of the World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2025. TIME Magazine and data firm Statista published their second edition of the list that includes 500 companies around the globe with outstanding commitment to environmental and social responsibility. Nokian Tyres was ranked 98th.

The criteria used for ranking companies included verified sustainability commitments, such as UN Global Compact membership and greenhouse gas emission reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative. Performance in ratings by respected organizations such as CDP and MSCI was taken into account, and companies were assessed also for sustainable business practice, transparency, and environmental and social stewardship.

Nokian Tyres is a pioneer in developing sustainability in the tire industry. The company drives sustainable development both in its own operations and across the value chain.

“We create tires that are safe, innovative and sustainable. Nokian Tyres has been a pioneer in sustainability in the tire industry for over three decades, as back in 1995 our factory in Finland was the first tire factory in the world that gained an environmental certification. We are proud of this track record and want our sustainability actions to be impactful. The most recent example of this is our new factory in Romania, the first full-scale zero CO2 emission tire factory in the world,” says Paolo Pompei, President and CEO at Nokian Tyres.
