Nokian Tyres summer trainee experiences 2024
At Nokian Tyres, summer internships in various departments offer students hands-on experience of working in a global company, a supportive team, and a dynamic environment. During the summer of 2024, trainees once again brought their unique expertise to teams across the organization. Now, three trainees look back at their time with us and share their highlights.
Emma, Finance Competence Center
Emma, a business student majoring in accounting at the University of Jyväskylä, discovered the internship opportunity at Nokian Tyres' Finance Competence Center through an acquaintance’s tip. During summer 2024, she worked as an AR Accountant in the Accounts Receivable & Credit Control team. Emma's internship clarified her studies and future career aspirations, making her university knowledge more concrete. She valued the independence she was given from the start, which made her summer internship both educational and enjoyable.
“In the beginning, I was very nervous about how the work would go without previous work experience in my own field, but thanks to the comprehensive orientation, the work went very well. I felt that I was able to approach my team members with a low threshold and ask for help whenever needed, whether I was working in the office or remotely from home. In general, the working atmosphere has been encouraging and positive,” said Emma.
Ida, Nokian Heavy Tyres Customer Service
Ida, a business student from Tampere University of Applied Sciences, applied to Nokian Tyres after hearing positive feedback about the company. She found a job advertisement on the company website and decided it would be a suitable summer job for her. Ida worked as a sales and logistics coordinator in Nokian Heavy Tyres' customer service. Her role involved order processing, management, and answering availability inquiries.
“I learned a lot about customer service in a new environment and appreciated the excellent orientation and open reception from my colleagues. The summer at Nokian Tyres was successful. In a work community everyone has meaning, and it manifests here as a joyful atmosphere. My positive image of the company only strengthened during the summer,” said Ida.
Lotte, Accounts Payable
Lotte, an economics student majoring in economic law at the University of Vaasa, applied to Nokian Tyres after hearing about the company from her mother, who had previously worked here. Lotte wanted to work in an international listed company on the financial side, and she was thrilled to secure a summer job at Nokian Tyres, working in the Accounts Payable team. After the summer, Lotte had the chance to return to the team as a seasonal assistant alongside her studies.
“Orientation to the work went smoothly and plenty of time was reserved for it. Thanks for this go to my supervisor and the people I tutored with during the summer. The internship will benefit my studies in future courses, and certainly in future summer jobs. The summer went by quickly and I'm in good spirits going on holiday for a while. The best things about the internship were the wonderful colleagues and flexible working hours,” said Lotte.
