Tires for demanding conditions
Our Passenger Car Tyres business unit develops and manufactures high-quality winter, summer and all-season tires for passenger cars, SUVs and vans. We operate within the premium passenger car tire segment and focus on the replacement tire market.
Nokian Tyres’ products are known for their high quality, which translates to predictability, performance and safety in all conditions. Premium quality tires are designed to deliver driving comfort, eco-friendliness and fuel savings.
Our products are a result of careful product development and extensive testing. New tire innovations have driven our success ever since we invented the world’s first winter tire in 1934. Nowadays, winter tires account for over half of sold passenger car tires.
We work in close collaboration with our customers to design tires that meet the specific market and consumer needs. Our most famous tire brands are Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta winter tires and Nokian Tyres Hakka summer tires.

Market areas
Nokian Tyres is the market leader in premium car tires in the Nordic countries. Other important market areas for us is North America, where we especially seek growth, and Central Europe. The Passenger Car Tyres business unit generates approximately half of Nokian Tyre’s total net sales.
Currently our products are sold approximately 60 countries wordwide and by 2027, our own production capacity will surpass 15 million tires. We produce tires in our factories in Finland and the US, and are building a new factory in Romania which will be operational in 2026. The factory in Romania will be the world’s first zero CO2 emission tire factory.
Nokian Tyres completed the sale of its Russian operations in 2023, after which all Nokian Tyres operations in Russia ended.
Market leader in the Nordic countries
Approximately 13 million car and van tires are estimated to be sold each year in Finland, Sweden, and Norway, of which about half are winter tires.
Nokian Tyres is the only Nordic tire manufacturer and a stable market leader within the region. We have a wide range of products designed particularly for the Nordic conditions and our brand awareness in the region is strong.
In the Nordic countries, the target is to continue to strengthen the market leader position with the help of high-quality products and good availability as well as strong distribution and customer loyalty.
Seeking growth in North America

We focus strongly on Canada and the US snowbelt, which are also our strongest regions. Besides winter tires, we focus on selected all season tires, which are designed and developed for the North American markets. The tires are produced in our factory in Dayton, US, which started operations in 2020.
In North America, the target is to grow sales by about 100 percent. The growth is driven by maintaining the position in the snow-belt areas of North America, growth in the all-season segment, and increasing the capability of the US factory in manufacturing products for North America.
Investing in Central Europe
